Mahanayak is a Bengali drama from Star Jalsha, inspired by the past golden era of Bengali cinema. The show charts the odyssey of an ordinary middle class man named Arun Kumar and follows him all the way to the pinnacle of stardom. Set against a backdrop of contemporary interpersonal and politico – cultural issues between 1950 and 1980, his journey from stardust to stardom will vividly portray his professional struggles and personal rigmaroles across a span of three decades. The show also dives deep into his relationship with actresses like Suchorita Sen, Priya Devi, Gayetri Devi, Mukta Sinha and in turn the struggles he went through in his marriage with Uma Devi.
